MEASURE FOR MEASURE

ICEHOUSE’s fourth album was released in April of 1986 and topped the Australian Album chart at #8. With a nod in its title to Shakespeare, Measure For Measure became a collection of some of ICEHOUSE’s most beloved songs. The first single, released on November 1st of 1985, was the ethereal “No Promises.” This song originated from the ballet Boxes, a collaboration between the Sydney Dance Company and ICEHOUSE in November of 1985.

Next came the cheeky “Baby, You’re So Strange” on March 10th of 1986, followed by the caustic confrontation of “Mr. Big” on June 15th. The final Australian single, with its driving rhythms and historic references, “Cross The Border” was released on October 20th. The United States and the United Kingdom were treated with an additional single of “Paradise” in the latter half of 1986.

“No Promises” hinted at the international success to come with it achieving Top 10 positions on both the Billboard Top Rock Tracks and Dance Club Songs charts.
