BOXES & BERLIN
Boxes was commissioned by the Sydney Dance Company, and conceived by Iva Davies and Robert Kretschmer of ICEHOUSE and choreographer Graeme Murphy. First performed on November 7th, 1985, at the Opera Theatre at the Sydney Opera House, it ran for three weeks and sold out each performance. The Sydney Dance Company never performed Boxes again, making those three weeks in 1985 a special moment in history for both the SDC and ICEHOUSE.
Berlin was the second collaboration between Iva Davies and Graeme Murphy for the Sydney Dance Company, and included Max Lambert as co-composer. Berlin was staged at the Opera House Drama Theatre from November 17th to December 23rd, 1995. It closed the season for the SDC with packed theatres. In January through March of 1996, Berlin was performed in Auckland, Canberra, and Melbourne.
